"I have learned many leadership skills through TAC and gained confidence when meeting others and presenting in front of large groups. Being active through service and volunteer work in the community has also helped me develop great time management skills!" Since 1987, the Youth Resources Teen Advisory Council has engaged high school students who are passionate about leadership, community service, and civic engagement while allowing youth leaders to gain a sense of ownership and responsibility. The program, which began with 12 students, now has over 120 members and has involved over 1,650 teens in leadership development! In the 2011-12 school year, these students completed over 4,200 hours of community service through 135 local non-profit agencies and events. These dedicated high school students:
Serving on the Teen Advisory Council prepares youth for the challenges they will face in the future as college students, employees, employers and volunteers while encouraging them to be a positive force in our community today.
